WELCOME FROM OUR HEADTEACHER
MISS M ELLIOTT
English Martyrs’ is a Catholic primary school where the messages of the Gospel are at the heart of everything we do. We are very proud of our school, our pupils and staff, our parents and carers as well as our parish community.
We believe that each person is made in the image and likeness of God and therefore we value and respect each member of our school community as the unique individual that they are.
Our school is a happy place, where the needs of the 'whole child' are at the heart of all we do.
We provide an environment in which pupils are safeguarded and where they also feel safe. We provide a curriculum that enables our pupils to discover their individual gifts and strengths while developing an enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
We are very lucky to have close links with our parish community and recognise the important role it plays in the life of English Martyrs' school; we continue to work in partnership always moving forward together.
We recognise that, as parents/carers, you are an essential partner in the educational journey and we place great value on the partnership that exists between home and school. We will support your understanding of your child's by regularly inviting you into school to discuss their progress and celebrate their successes, keep you up to date with new ideas and initiatives and offer you workshops to work alongside you to enable you to support your child on their learning journey.
By the time your child is ready to move on to the next phase of education we will have, together, encouraged your child to have developed a sense of personal value and achievement, and a self-confidence that will carry on to adult life.

MISSION STATEMENT
LOVING JESUS, LOVING LEARNING, LOVING LIFE
Within the Mission Statement of the school, it makes it absolutely clear that the whole ethos of the school and all aspects of the school will reflect the practice and traditions of our Catholic faith. Such teachings direct us to believe that we are all “Children of God” and that we live by following the example of Jesus giving to us in the Gospels. We aspire to live out these Gospel Values but putting the Beatitudes into practice in all that we do.
Our school motto – ‘Loving Jesus, loving learning, loving life’; along with the Beatitudes underpin all that we do here at English Martyrs’.
The principles of striving for excellence in all that we attempt to do and taking the opportunities offered for reconciliation should be uppermost in our minds when dealing with issues particularly when this involves conflict or misunderstandings between members of the school family.
