Dear Parents/ Carers
As many of you will know, last year – we were awarded the Platinum OPAL award for our commitment to providing exciting and fun play at lunchtimes.
We know how popular OPAL is, with our pupils and how many benefits we see from those who take part.
As the weather begins to improve, as we move towards Spring – we are looking to relaunch our full OPAL offer in school.
In order for this to happen, we rely on the generous donations of pre-loved toys and equipment from parents/carers and the wider school community.
To make our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) project successful, we will be looking to start collecting ‘loose parts’.
These are things that can be moved, changed, combined and incorporated into children’s free play.
The following items are required currently:
Plastic or metal buckets
Pallets
Kitchen utensils, pots, pans, baking trays, sieves, colanders etc for the mud kitchen
Watering cans, wheel barrows & guttering
Large pieces of fabric for den building e.g. sheets/curtains/tarpaulin
Brooms.
Decorating paintbrushes
Nets and ropes
Suitcases/briefcases
Cable drums
Bamboo poles/plastic piping
Picnic Blankets
We also welcome
Dressing up clothes
Small world toys (cars, dinosaurs, farm animals, dolls)
Bikes and scooters (in safe working order)
Prams/buggies/pushchairs
Please do not donate anything unless it is in a useable condition as we will be checking everything that has been donated and if it is not suitable, we won’t be using it with the children. Any donations can be dropped off by the OPAL shed (Located between the Netherby Drive gates) during drop off/pick up times.
If you have any of these materials in large quantities and can donate them to school but are unable to make the scheduled drop off times, please contact the office and we will make alternative arrangements.
Additionally, if you work for a company or a trade and are able to supply us with additional resources that we could use, we would be very grateful.
Thank you for your continued support
